A bleh kind of day

I know I keep saying this, but I am soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo looking forward to the end of semester/exams. Obviously I will have to get back into some serious thesis work, but on the fun side I also plan to reorganise the categories for this site, for example, splitting “savoury” into favourite food categories such as “burger” “pizza” “fried rice” “barbecue” etc. I also want to make more header images to add to the rotation. And I still need to tinker with the computer parts that are sitting in the study and spare room and possibly the garage (I’ll have to do a big search and round-up) and try to build some sort of pc for Jac. I’ve been meaning to do that for a long while now. Oh, and I want to get back to cataloguing my books. There’s just not enough time to do everything I want, really.

For dinner this evening, Jac made salted pork chok (rice porridge, sometimes spelled as jook). She salted the pork ribs overnight and when she got home from work she put the pork with rice and water in the pot on the stove and cooked the lot until I got home just after six. As I got into my trackies and ugg shoes, she fried up some chopped garlic until it was really crispy and fragrant. She then served me up a big bowl of chok and pork ribs hot from the pot, which I topped with the fried garlic, fried shallots, soy sauce and a little sesame oil. She insisted that I garnish the chok with a sprig of coriander for the photo, but after I took the shot I tossed it away as I can’t stand fresh coriander! (Jac knows about my aversion to coriander, but I think she enjoyed having some artistic input into the photo.)

I feel really annoyed that I didn’t finish the essay feedback/marking of late submissions today. There are far too many distractions at uni in that shared office. And so not surprisingly I’ve decided to work at home tomorrow (and have leftover chok for my lunch).

I forgot about my injured knee today and smacked it right into the bus seat in front of me this morning (yes, yes the clumsiness continues). It’s fine, maybe just a little more bruised now. I’m still walking ok.
