Saturday breakfast

We had breakfast this morning at a place called Coffee Cube, at Carousel Shopping Centre. It’s one of those little cafes in the shopping centre that’s not in an actual shop building (I’m sure there’s a proper, more elegant way to describe this sort of “open” cafe, but right now I’m too tired to think of it). There was a skylight just above where we were sitting, which helped with the photos – I didn’t need to use the flash for a change.

Our drinks arrived first. Jac had a chocolate milkshake:

I had a cup of English Breakfast Tea with soy milk. The tea was very strong, which is, by coincidence, just how I like it.

I had a cooked breakfast with bacon, scrambled eggs, mushrooms, tomatoes and buttered toast. Yep, I consumed everything you see here.

My breakfast

My breakfast really hit the spot. I was surprised and pleased at the generous amount of bacon and eggs. I loved that there was streaky bacon as well as the more meaty bacon. The eggs were creamy and not overdone, really tasty.

Jac had a craving for a beef burger with salad and fried onions, and so that’s exactly what she had:

Burger, lid lifted for your viewing pleasure

Here’s the burger innards shot for you innards fans. The burger had bacon and barbecue sauce (it was saucy but not overly saucy) as well as the salad and fried onions. The burger pattie was thick and juicy. Jac said the burger was very filling as well as delicious.

We really enjoyed our food. The service was excellent. The food was simple but delicious and good value. They sell cake in huge slices, as well as really yummy-looking bee stings and vanilla slices (we were stuffed and didn’t have room for any sweeties). We watched the waiters working as we ate and were very impressed with their manner, efficiency and peripheral vision. Customers got served really quickly and the food and hot drinks were just flying out. The staff noticed I was taking photos but didn’t seem to mind, which is good. We’ll definitely eat there again.
