Chinese New Year 2009 – visiting relatives

I can’t believe I missed posting this! The morning after our family reunion dinner, we “kids” got together again to go visit our relatives for Chinese New Year. Of course, this involved more eating – I didn’t have breakfast that morning, as I knew we’d be eating nonstop as we visited everyone. :) First stop [&hel…

Simple Keens curry

Jac made this curry recently, with chicken thigh pieces and vegetables – whatever we had in the fridge, freezer and pantry that needed to be used up – potato, sweet potato, carrot, cauliflower, broccoli, onion and peas. The curry flavour came from Keens traditional curry powder. Boy, it was good.

Jac cooked a casserole in the electric frypan we got from my parents for Christmas – she used Christmas turkey thigh roll, retrieved from the freezer, thawed and cut into cubes. She added vegetables – carrots, celery, green [&hellip…

Friday night stir-fry

For a recent dinner, Jac cooked a stir-fry of chicken and vegetable (broccoli, cabbage, green beans, onions), served with noodles. She marinated the chicken for a few hours in white pepper and cornflour, and made the sauce for the stir-fry up as she went. Her aim was to use up as many of the sauces […]

Lunch bar lunches

J and I got lunch from 88 Royal lunch bar (88a Royal St, East Perth) a couple of Fridays ago and ate it sitting under a tree, on a grassy hill by the water behind the shops. She got her favourite, a chicken strip roll. Her favourite used to be the chicken schnitzel burger, which […]

Dinner at Sapporo

It’s simple, homestyle delicious cooking. We ordered prawn dumplings, called “shu mai” on the menu. They came with a big blob of wasabi and a […]
