Charcoal Chicken dinner

It’s been a while since we got dinner from Charcoal Chicken. I stopped by the store on my way home from work recently and grabbed us a cream dinner each and a chicken caesar to share. The cream dinner consists of a quarter chicken, potatoes in cream gravy, and peas. The cream potatoes used to be tastier – there was an almost mushroomy taste to the cream gravy, and it was just the right level of can’t-get-enough saltiness. This time around, the potatoes seemed less creamy and flavoursome, but more bland and oily, which was a shame. The chicken was very good though – tender and juicy, with golden brown caramelised skin and the delicious aroma and flavour of the chargrill.

The chicken caesar salad is never a restaurant-style, so-called “proper” caesar salad (Charcoal Chicken is a takeaway chicken place, after all!), but it’s always tasty, with chunks of chopped chicken, a generous amount of dressing, chopped up hard-boiled egg, grated parmesan, croutons and crunchy crisp cos lettuce. Just a shame about those cream potatoes. :)
