Breakfast at Niche Cafe

We were at the shops recently and Jac had a craving for eggs benedict. She asked if I’d mind if we ate breakfast at Niche Cafe. Regular readers may remember that cafe as the Burger Fail cafe. :) I decided to stay clear of the burgers this time and ordered bacon and scrambled eggs with […]

Pie, bun, tart

A chicken pie from Brumby’s bakery. Mmm, it smelled great. Chunks of chicken, with peas and corn kernels in a nicely seasoned white sauce. The pastry was crisp. I really enjoyed eating my pastry crescent moon. An iced cinnamon bun, also from Brumby’s. A little too strong on the cinnamon, I thought, but yummy all […]

Brunch at Leonardo’s

Breakfast at Leonardo’s Cafe at Carousel Shopping Centre on a Saturday morning. We started with drinks – a iced mocha frappe (AU$5.90) for Jac and a large apple juice (AU$3.80) for me. Jac’s mocha frappe was very sweet, but cold and refreshing. Jac ordered a “shark bait” sandwich on multi-grain bread (AU$11.95), which …

Minchee and an unexpected bonus

Jac cooked our first minchee in the new house (the first of many, I’m sure!). You know something fantastic (besides the minchee)? When we decided we loved the new house and put an offer in to buy it, I never thought about what photos taken in the new kitchen would be like! And as it […]

First meal cooked in new kitchen

Looks pretty good, don’t you think? Here’s the real thing, fresh out of the microwave. It looked good to me, but certainly different from […]

Cupcake

My workmate C brought some cupcakes to work that his wife had made and shared them around. The chocolate icing was finger-sucking good and the cake was moist and buttery – I really enjoyed this unexpected sweet treat, and the piped swirls of icing and the colourful hundreds and thousands said “PARTY” (well, we were […]

Moving weekend food

Moving weekend featured lots of junk food. Juji and Jay came round to help on Saturday morning and brought us breakfast from McDonald’s – bacon and egg mcmuffins, hash browns, OJ for me and a cappucino for Jac. We all took a lunch break a few hours later – Jac’s mum Pattycakes and I did […]

Pixel’s last play in the laundry sink

Pixel had a little play in the laundry sink at our old house a couple of nights before we moved. She sat there, rubbed her cheeks on the taps and looked around, quite smug. Little did she realise this would be her last time playing in that old laundry sink! She hasn’t been allowed to […]
