Workmate J and I had lunch at Basil Leaves (82 Royal St, East Perth). We sat at one of the tables outside and enjoyed the sunshine on a warm fine day. J’d had a craving for Thai green curry for some time, and she didn’t hesitate to order the Thai green chicken curry with rice.
In the curry there was chicken and vegetables – greens, potato, capsicum, and lots of bamboo shoots. J commented that the green curry at Basil Leaves has been remarkably consistent every time she’s eaten it – it’s always the same, and always delicious.
I ordered ginger chicken with rice. I’ve had this dish before at Basil Leaves and enjoyed it every time.
The ginger flavour is strong and bitey in this dish – not surprising, as there is lots of julienned fresh ginger in the dish, along with the chicken and onions. It’s very homestyle, plate-lickingly saucy and tastes deliciously fresh.
