Rochelle Adonis’ new home sweet home

After five years in Brisbane Street in Northbridge, Rochelle Adonis Cakes and Confections has moved to new, bigger premises on the Beaufort Street cafe strip, on the corner of St Albans Avenue.

Rochelle Adonis is pretty well known in Perth, but for those unfamiliar, Rochelle and her team create exquisite cakes and sweet treats, serve elegant high teas from Tuesday to Sunday and put on decadent dessert degustation events. Rochelle’s signature hand-crafted nougat is one of my weaknesses – there are five flavours and they’re all gorgeous.

On a stormy, gusty night last month I was a guest at the ‘housewarming’ party at Rochelle Adonis’ new studio where we celebrated with glasses of Mumm champagne and mountains of miniature desserts. I could see the same conundrum bubbling all around me: “What should I try first?”

DSC_0020My second-favourite sweet from the event: salted caramel dark chocolate truffles. One bite cracks open the crisp chocolate shell to fill your mouth with a splash of rich chewy salted caramel.

Table settingAfternoon teas (which include savoury items as well as sweet) and dessert degustations are served at communal marble-topped tables.
