Out of SPAM? Never!

As I was on leave last week I had time to cook myself some breakfast on Tuesday morning. I woke up feeling like fried SPAM and egg with baked beans and rice for breakfast. I dug around the pantry looking for a tin of SPAM, and shock, horror – no SPAM! Somehow, I’d let my […]

Meatballs, two ways

Last Sunday Jac made turkey meatballs, two ways. The first batch were eaten with large spiral pasta in a tomato sauce with mushrooms, peas and carrots in it. I’ve mentioned before that Jac likes to sneak in as many vegetables as she can when she makes a pasta sauce. She still thinks she has trick […]

Meals at home

We ate the last of the Nandos chicken with fresh spinach, grape tomatoes and mushrooms, and Jac made a pasta salad. As you can see, there wasn’t a lot of chicken on my plate. We’d eaten almost half a chicken each, so there wasn’t much left over for the next day! I loved the pasta […]

Dinners at home

4/5/2008 – Jac panfried barramundi fillets which she’d coated in seasoned flour. She served them with mashed sweet potato and salad (sliced mushrooms, cherry tomatoes, lettuce and cucumber). There were a whole pile of these as well as turkey breast roasts on sale at the frozen foods section at the supermarket – surplus stock from Christmas time, no doubt. We love dark poultry meat, and thigh is my absolute favourite. I […]

Back to it, then!

We decided, after we returned from holiday, that we would remain in “holiday mode” as far as eating went until the 14th of January, being the day after Jac’s birthday and the day I went back to work. After the 14th we’d try our hardest to eat as many salads and vegetables, and as little […]

Dinners at home

Tuesday night: Jac grilled snapper fillets and potatoes, tomato and pineapple. She simply seasoned the fish with a little pepper (nope, no salt!) and put a little butter on top before placing under the grill. She pre-cooked the potatoes in the microwave in some water then drained them, salted them and sprayed them with a […]

Dinners

Rewind the clock back to last week again… Last Monday’s dinner – a breakfasty meal of beefy sausages, fried eggs and baked beans. Tuesday, a turkey steak, salad and a buttered slice of wholemeal bread. Wednesday, Jac rang me at work and said she felt like Chinese food. Although I didn’t think she’d really eat [……

Turkey thigh roast

After my sushi lunch and completing a few little errands, I dropped by Woolies to pick up some bread. I also had a look to see if they had any turkey bacon. Alas, they didn’t – however, I bought this interesting looking turkey thigh roast with – according to the label – “fruity stuffing”. Jac […]

Christmas 2006 Part 1

I’ve uploaded 293 photos to a Flickr set called Xmas in Dunsborough, 2006. Friends and family can see lots of people photos there. Everyone else can see food, animal and landscape shots. These next few posts about Christmas at Dunsborough will feature selected shots from that set. We left for Dunsborough early on Christmas morning, […]
