More bleh

Jac stopped by the supermarket on her way home from work this evening and picked up a few items for making dinner: a jar of Chicken Tonight (creamy mushroom flavour), some chicken thighs, potatoes, mushrooms and half a cabbage. I love eating the dishes Jac cooks from scratch, but I’m also perfectly happy to eat meals prepared using short-cuts out of a jar or packet. I’m just happy that she likes cooking. Most nights I’d be way too lazy. I’m an eater, not a cooker, damn it! Heheh. And so dinner was Chicken Tonight creamy mushroom flavour (with extra mushrooms), really fluffy mashed potato and steamed cabbage and carrots.

Sorry this post isn’t very interesting. Nothing much happened today. I worked all day at home on the essay feedback and marked the late submissions. All that is left to do now is print the feedback off at uni tomorrow and staple feedback to matching essay 31 times (it should be 32, but there’s still one essay outstanding). That’s a lot of conscious avoidance of paper-cuts! Despite my best efforts, I usually manage to give myself at least one paper cut whenever I handle fresh paper. When that happens I make this strange noise that’s a cross between a shriek and a yelp (a noise I have also been known to make when I bite myself as a result of over-enthusiastic chewing) while at the same time this horrible icy cold shiver streaks down the back of my neck and spine. Do any of you get that shiver with paper cuts, or is that just me?

I actually have more than a week to go before I have to drop the marked essays off at the School office, but as I’ll be well and truly occupied with the exam invigilating next week, I wanted to get them out of the way. Plus, there will be exams to mark by mid-week next week.

I suppose the only interesting thing that happened today was that I ordered a new dvd burner and a couple of rounded ATA cables. My dvd drive has been really temperamental/unreliable/CRAPPY for a while now and I’m sick of making coasters. My plan is to keep the old one for playing and just use the new drive for burning. New FDD/IDE cables and optical drive are really not exciting at all as far as upgrades go, but there’ll be some nerdy photos when I have it all installed. The cables are UV reactive, but I’m not planning to install UV lights into the case just yet. If this last paragraph made little sense to you, just ignore.
