Wednesday bento – fried rice, salad and fruit
We made fried rice for dinner last Tuesday night, with chicken, carrot, green beans, mushroom, corn kernels, onion, garlic and egg (broken into the fried rice mixture right at the end), flavoured with oyster sauce. It was delicious. I’d been really craving home cooked fried rice. Jac cooked plenty so we would have leftovers for bento the next day.
In our bento boxes for Wednesday: fried rice, topped with carrot flowers, a mini salad (mixed greens, cherry tomatoes, green beans and carrot sticks), strawberries and a mini pack of sesame snaps (these mini packs are really handy for bento!). I packed Jac a bonus item in her bento box, which I placed behind the mini pack of sesame snaps: a dried fig. She loves figs, I can’t stand them. :)
But what I do love is fried rice in bento! I enjoyed eating it cold just as much as I’d enjoyed eating it hot at dinner the night before.
Another “hump day”-themed note on another Wednesday for Jac! She really enjoyed her lunch. She told me she made herself a little fig “sandwich” using the sesame snaps as the “bread”! Now, please don’t tell me someone else has a recipe for that on the net somewhere! Mwhahahahahahaaa! :-P*
