Dinner and music dvds

This was one of my dinners last week: creamy chicken with mushrooms and green beans, served with roasted corn on the cob and roasted whole potatoes. Jac cooked it all – she made the chicken dish up to use the leftover cream we had in the fridge – it was delicious. I had a little butter on my potato, but none on my corn. Jac thinks it’s strange, but I never have butter on my corn on the cob – I prefer the pure corn flavour and find butter completely unnecessary when the corn is lovely and sweet. I actually only ate one of the potatoes that you see in the photo. The second one was included for display purposes only (heh).

I’ve been watching two new music dvds I got this week – An Evening With The Dixie Chicks (Live From the Kodak Theatre) – I won’t start another rave about the dcx (you know by now how much I love them!). Jac won’t watch any live videos because she doesn’t want to get dcx’d out before the concert, but me, I just can’t get enough! Every time I watch them, I get more and more excited and impatient to see them. I’m rewatching the AOL Sessions for like the seventeenth time right now.

The other dvd I’ve been watching is “Collection”, which is the music videos of New Order, which arrived on DVD from Amazon this week (this came with another dvd, NewOrderStory, in a 2-dvd pack called Item). I’ve liked New Order since I was in high school, and I still absolutely love them. My favourite New Order song is probably Bizarre Love Triangle (especially the 12″ version on Substance) but as far as the videos go, here are my favourites:
Perfect Kiss – I love the close-ups of the band members playing their instruments. Gillian looks really bored. I really appreciate them as musicians when I watch this video.
True Faith – Just because it’s so strange
Blue Monday ’88 – I love the flip book animations, the weimaraner dog’s poses, the flying tennis balls (or are they apples? must watch again), and the band peeping from behind nets, baskets, and other things
Round & Round – Not that I personally find the models attractive, I just like watching their expressions. I do like the song a lot too.
Ruined in a Day – Charades with monks in a monastery, funny!

Worst videos: Shellshock and State of the Nation. Don’t even know why they bothered with those.
