That caesar feeling

We decided that we’d go into town today after checking my PO Box. Jac wanted to go to the West Australian Tourist Centre so we could pick up some brochures and maps to help us really start planning our November/December holiday (at this stage, we think we’ll be going to Geraldton for a week or so, but the plan keeps morphing the more we talk about it).

Ever since Juji and I had a drink at Dome in Trinity Arcade in the city and I saw a woman tucking into a delicious-looking caesar salad there, I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it. The chicken caesar salad I had at Witch’s Cauldron was really nice, but it didn’t kill the craving. And so today, after raiding the Coral Coast shelves at the Tourist Centre (we filled my green Woolies shopping bag chockers with brochures and maps), we headed to Dome for brunch.

Jac really felt like a banana smoothie but they were all out of bananas, and so she settled for a berry one instead. It was very thick and creamy, and smelled lovely, really strongly of strawberries (I didn’t try any though). I just had a Diet Coke in a glass bottle. Jac was rather chuffed with one very detailed map in particular that we had in our stash, which you can see in the photo. She has a thing for maps. I like to see her look of pleasure as she looks through maps, even though I completely don’t share her thing for them.

After all my yacking on about how much I felt like a caesar salad, Jac said a caesar salad sounded pretty good to her too, and so we ordered one each and shared a serve of potato wedges.

Two salads and a bowl of wedges

The potato wedges were great! They were so fresh and crispy. We salted the wedges lightly and ate them hungrily with sweet chilli sauce and sour cream. I wish there had been some aioli instead of sour cream though. Why don’t more places serve aioli with their wedges or fries? Aioli is THE BEST! If anyone knows anywhere around Perth that serves aioli with their wedges or fries, please tell me!

I looooooooved my caesar salad. There was a good amount of dressing, but not too much. I was really in a cos place this morning – it just tasted so amazing. There was A LOT of bacon and shaved parmesan. The bacon was quite chunky, and really tasty, really porky. I reckon this caesar was as nice if not nicer than the one at Witch’s Cauldron. I was in absolute heaven as I ate it.

There was no room on the table for me to read the newspaper as we ate, and so I flicked through Dome’s very fancy full-colour menu while Jac drooled over her map. Next time, I might try the caesar pesto chicken. Mmmmm mmm.

It was very relaxing sitting in our little corner spot by the window looking out onto St George’s Terrace. There weren’t many customers at the time, and only one table featuring two bratty children (but their parents kept telling them off for being naughty, which I totally approved of – the parents, not the kids!).
