Another excellent barbie at Lou and Dan’s, Part 3
I took photos of the little boys’ lunches before they started eating. This is what Moritz (aged 6+) had for lunch: a rissole, a lamp chop, a sausage and a little bit of rice salad. Oh, and a little blob of tomato sauce.
And this is what Fynn (aged 3+) had for lunch: a sausage (sliced), a rissole (in torn into bite-sized pieces), a blob of tomato sauce, a little roasted vegetable salad and a little rice salad.
To go with our meat, there were a number of yummy salads. First, roasted vegetable salad, with roasted pumpkin and cherry tomatoes, with lettuce and cubes of fetta. Lou’s made this one before, and I really like it.
A noodle salad, with cabbage, crunchy noodles, spring onion and slivered almonds.
A rice salad, made by Dan’s sister. It had pine nuts, cashews, capsicum and parsley through it, with a lovely lemony dressing.
There was also a coleslaw with apple chunks in it which was really delicious (that, I think, along with the roasted vegetable salad, was my favourite), but my photos of it turned out terrible. (Oh well, it happens.) You’ll have to make do with a photo of the cooked vegie shishkebabs instead. Now these were really great, a really good way to cook/eat vegies. I really enjoyed un-skewering the colourful vegetable chunks and spearing them with my fork. I don’t know why, but it made me think of playing with Lego, which is good, as I like playing with Lego!
Dan did a great job cooking our chicken. It was juicy and succulent. Mmmmm.
More is on its way. I’m scrambling to post it all asap as I have to go to bed very soon.
