Short stories: Hickory smoked baby back pork ribs

Every year as the Perth Royal Show approaches, I think about this particular stand with the yellow roof, and I dream about hickory smoked baby back pork ribs in special sauce.

We shared a rack of ribs at the Royal Show today and my sticky fingers gave my new camera its proper christening.

The special sauce was as lip-lickingly awesome as ever, though if I’m being honest, the meat was a little dry this time. But we made short work of it and left behind a pile of well sucked bones.

The crowds always make photography challenging but this year the rain added to the difficulty (I used the old ‘camera in a plastic bag with a hole cut out for the lens’ trick). I’ll be sharing my favourite shots with you this week via a special run of Royal Show-themed short stories, including more Royal Show food.

What’s your favourite food at the Show?

Thanks to the Royal Agricultural Society of WA for providing us with Royal Show tickets (we paid for all our food, rides and showbags).

The Perth Royal Show 2013 is on from 28 September to 5 October. Stay tuned for more Royal Show-themed short stories this week. See the Royal Show short stories:
