Savannah’s sleepover, Part 2

Savannah requested bacon, eggs, baked beans and toast for breakfast this morning. While the bacon was frying, I squeezed us a glass of orange juice each. I didn’t take a photo of the bacon and eggs since I’ve already featured photos of bacon and eggs a number of times.

After breakfast, Savannah and I baked sugar cookies. I used this recipe. We only made a half-recipe, as that would make plenty of cookies for Savannah to bring home, and Jac and I didn’t really want any cookies. I made the dough on Friday night and had left it in the fridge to get nice and firm, so once I’d rolled it out, Savannah and I got busy with cookie cutters. I just love the smell of baking. Actually, if I hadn’t stopped her, I think Savannah would’ve happily eaten half of that raw cookie dough. It did smell very good, buttery and vanillary.

To decorate the cookies, I bought a pack of Cake Mate Writing Icings. You get four small tubes of icing (red, green, blue, yellow) which you can hold like a pen to decorate with. Savannah decorated most of the cookies. I think I did about half a dozen. The Writing Icings were easy enough to use, but as the tubes got emptier and stickier it got a little tricky. They taste REALLY sweet too. Very handy if you’re too lazy to make lots of different coloured icings.

Pretty cool, huh?

We brought Savannah home on our way to a barbecue lunch. Those photos are coming up next. But now I’m eating leftovers for dinner, so your patience is appreciated. :)
