Salad and fruit

After breakfast last Saturday, we did the grocery shopping and then I grabbed us a couple of salads from Sumo Salad for a late lunch.

Jac wanted a regular box (AU$8.95) with her two favourite Express salads – the roasted pumpkin and cous cous salad, and the falafel and cous cous salad with balsamic dressing.

I chose one of the made-to-order salads – the grilled chicken low GI. The salad consists of grilled free range chicken, avocado, Danish feta, sun-dried tomatoes, julienne carrot and cos lettuce. The avocado and feta added creaminess to the salad, and the feta was really nice, not over-the-top salty like some feta can be. I really loved this salad – I bought a regular (AU$8.95) rather than a small (AU$7.95) thinking I’d eat some now and have the rest later, but it was so good I didn’t stop eating until it was all gone. My favourite Sumo Salad used to be the chicken caesar, but I think we have a new winner! I’m definitely going to buy this one again.

After our salad lunch, Jac cut up some fresh fruit for us. The kiwi fruit was all for her (I don’t like kiwi fruit). The oranges we’ve been eating lately have been fantastic – Jac bought a 3 kg bag of navel oranges from a fruit and veggie shop at the Bentley Centre – they have been just bursting with juice and are gorgeously sweet. I’ve been eating an orange a day at work, which I peel by hand sitting at my desk. I hope we can get more of these oranges.
