Breakfast of gluttons
I’m sure my friend C won’t be offended that I’ve called this post “breakfast of gluttons”! We know what we are, after all! :-D
We met up at Ba Ba Black (Shop 25, 60 Royal St – Cnr Plain St, next to The Royal pub) to start our day with a hearty feed.
C had one of her favourites – Ba Ba Benedict, a spectacular tower of toasted bread, spinach, smoked salmon, perfectly poached eggs all yellow and gooey-yolked in the middle, topped with a big blob of thick hollandaise sauce.
I ordered scrambled eggs on two thick slices of toast, with a side of bacon and a homemade potato cake. The bacon, eggs and toast hit the spot, but that potato cake was the worst $4.00 I’ve spent in a long, long time. It was dry, tasteless and burnt on the bottom – very disappointing. I do love Ba Ba Black’s scrambled eggs – they always give you a generous serve of perfectly scrambled, deliciously creamy soft eggs. It’s almost intimidating when that huge plate of food is placed in front of you, but C and I usually leave empty plates.
C sent me a text message later that day: “Still really full from breakfast. Declined free food, as even my greed has been conquered by that hollandaise.”
Heheheheh.
PS. thanks to those of you who’ve expressed concern regarding the fires in Victoria – as I mentioned at the end of my macaroni stir-fry bento post, please don’t worry, Jac and I and our families and friends are all safe. Jac and I live in Western Australia, on the other side of the country. Jac is currently in New South Wales with friends but is fine – we talk on the phone every night, and she’s nowhere near fires at this time.
