This month, there’s going to be a distinctly Malaysian flavour to some of my blog posts.
I’m thrilled to be taking part in Malaysia Kitchen’s Blogger Summit, which runs throughout August. The campaign aims to increase awareness of Malaysian cooking and encourage people to experience Malaysian cuisine in restaurants across Australia.
I was born in Malaysia and come from a Chinese-Malaysian family, so Malaysian food is dear to my heart and stomach! Besides being delicious, for me, certain Malaysian dishes evoke fond and vivid childhood memories.
I hope to convey through my posts the wonderful diversity of Malaysian cuisine. I’ll be taking this opportunity to discover new eateries and maybe revisit a couple of old favourites. You can probably guess I’m stoked to have an excuse to go out and eat Malaysian food!
I’m one of thirteen bloggers from around Australia who will be reviewing local Malaysian restaurants for a chance to win an all-expenses paid trip to Malaysia for the ultimate food lovers’ adventure. At the end of August, the top three bloggers with the most reader votes across all their posts (you’ll be able to vote at the Malaysia Kitchen Blogger Summit site) will be the winners.
I’d love to go to Malaysia. I get excited thinking about all the delicious food, wonderful sights to photograph and great stories to share from the experience. I haven’t returned since my family emigrated to Western Australia over 26 years ago.
Look out for a new Malaysia Kitchen Blogger Summit post every Friday in August. I will do my best not to annoy you with constant begging for votes. If you enjoy my Malaysia Kitchen Blogger Summit posts, please consider voting for me each week.
EDIT, 1 September – RESULTS: Thank you so much to everyone who voted and helped spread the word! The results are out and it’s official! I’m going to Malaysia!
I had a wonderful time eating and photographing dishes at four of Perth’s Malaysian restaurants. I hope my posts captured at least some of the diversity, complexity and deliciousness of Malaysian cuisine.
