Short Stories: The Chili Dawg
At Run Amuk Hotdogs Unleashed in South Freo, I start any hotdog feeling absolutely ravenous – but always, three-quarters of the way through, combined with shoestring fries and a tall glass of gingery lemonade, I start to slow down. That was last night’s story with the July special Chili Dawg (AU$14.50), the delicious, good-looking lovechild of hotdog and nachos, a bun stuffed with tasty things to fall and drip on you every time you bite: bratwurst, chili con carne, guacamole, cheddar cheese, cool sour cream, crunchy tortilla chips and parsley, which I initially gave a go but ended up picking off – I’m not a parsley fan. There’s also a July special chocolate shake made with Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. I’m a creature of habit though: it’s hotdog, fries and lemonade for me every time.
I’m off to the airport tonight. That little flag’s a clue for where I’m headed next. As usual, there will be new blog posts while I am away, but to get the best ‘real-time’ travel updates, follow me on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
