Friday night pizza

There was a postgraduate students’ pizza night at the university tavern tonight, but Ms Antisocial (for the slow: that’s me)was happy to stay home sitting in her holey track pants and comfy ugg shoes and order home-delivered pizza instead. Although the uni pizza night was much cheaper (a gold coin donation), the extra money spent was well worth the absence of forced socialising. It was a good sign when I rang Domino’s and I didn’t get the usual guy who sounds about 14 and speaks so fast I don’t understand a word he’s saying. I got an older sounding guy (well, must have been at least 17!) who spoke clearly and very obviously knew what he was doing. He told me 45 minutes, but the pizza arrived in about 35 minutes. Wooooohoooo!

Jac’s choice was the Roast Garlic & Olive Supreme: special tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese, pepperoni, capsicum, onion, mushroom, beef, bacon, mediterranean style olives and fresh garlic. I don’t actually like olives AT ALL, so Jac got all of mine. Interestingly, the olives gave the pizza a very nice smell. I tried eating one in case these were different olives that I would actually like, but noooo. There was an amazing amount of garlic on the pizza – perfect as I LOOOOVE garlic. I love the smell and bitey taste of it. I was also thrilled that the beef was chunky, like small meatballs, rather than mince. Really, really good. My only gripe was that there was an absolutely pitiful amount of mushroom on it, like a thin shaving of mushroom not even on each slice.

I usually get the Meatball Monster, but tonight decided to try the New Meatmaster. They are essentially the same, except that the Meatball Monster has ham while the Meatmaster has beef. The New Meastmaster pizza, according to the menu, has famous BBQ sauce, mozzarella cheese, pepperoni, meatballs, beef and Don smoked bacon. I LOOOOOOVE meatballs and BBQ sauce on pizza. I won’t touch any other funny sauces though – no satay or thai green curry pizzas for me. That Don smoked bacon was lovely – really meaty, big square pieces.

The pizzas cost us $9.95 each, home delivered. Not bad.

And because I just love those juicy meatballs, here’s a closer look at them.

Meatmaster Pizza, just a little closer

Fingers crossed the new speakers will arrive early next week. Right now I’m sorting through a pile of photos. Jac wants to bring a small album’s worth with her on her trip to show her friends what her missus and cats look like. She’ll be catching up with mates she hasn’t seen for years. She is getting very excited now. I will miss her, but as long as I have the computer and internet, I will be fine. :)

PS. She knows how I can’t be bothered cooking if I’m tired in the evening, and so she’s been marinating various meats and cooking up dishes for me, which are all ready to go, in the freezer. Isn’t that sweet of her?
