Perth Royal Show 2007, Part 2
I’d been dreaming about eating hot buttered corn and BBQ pork ribs at the Show ever since last year’s Show.
The Hot Buttered Corn stand was in the same spot as last year. They didn’t have the corny banjo-twanging soundtrack playing, so it didn’t feel as exciting as last year. And given that it was only around 10am there was no queue – we just walked right up. I’m not complaining about that!
Hot buttered corn varieties: butter, butter and salt/pepper, garlic butter, herb butter, chilli butter, salt/pepper. We shared a single corn on the cob with garlic butter.
Well, the corn was as bursty and juicy as I remembered. We had a hilarious time biting into the corn and popping each other in the eye with corn juice – well, I ended up with corn juice all over my glasses. The garlic butter wasn’t as garlicky as I remembered, and I don’t think they put enough butter on the corn in the first place – the butter didn’t drip down as freely as it did last year, but that corn was the best – easily the best corn I’ll get to eat all year.
After cleaning off my corny glasses we then headed straight to the BBQ pork ribs stand. Jac had also been hanging out for these. This photo would not have been possible with my old camera – it’s great having a wide angle lens on my new camera.
Jac really felt like a hot dog with fried onions. I was up for sharing anything as long as I got ribs too! Here’s the hot dog pre-sauced.
As it turned out, the sausage in the hot dog was a cheese sausage! Surprise oozy cheese suited our eating mood very well.
Just like last year, we ended up with a pile of well-sucked bones. I reckon I could’ve sat there and eaten a couple more serves, but I had to reserve stomach space for other goodies.
