Thursday bento – hard-boiled egg, salad, mini jam sandwiches and fruit

Jac didn’t need a packed lunch last Thursday. I wasn’t going to bother with bento, but I couldn’t help myself – I packed myself lunch at the last minute: a hard-boiled egg, salad, mini jam sandwiches and papaya.

The salad consisted of mixed salad greens, cucumber, mushroom, sugar snap peas, red capsicum and baby carrots. I peeled the baby carrots and sliced them lengthways to make long carrot sticks.

I didn’t use an egg shaper this time. I simply sliced the egg in half and packed a little bottle of soy sauce to eat with it. I placed the egg on a bed of salad greens.

For sweets, I packed papaya cubes and mini sandwiches – strawberry jam and kaya (coconut jam – see Wikipedia entry). There was enough space for two of each type of mini sandwich – the other two are hidden underneath these ones.
