Midweek dinner date – sashimi, noodle soup and pancake
Another dinner at the International Eating House in East Victoria Park. We started with a plate of crispy spring rolls with sweet and sour sauce.
Jac ordered a salmon sashimi set from the Japanese stall. The set included salmon, salad, rice, miso soup and a bowl of dipping sauce. It’s extremely good value at AU$6.50!
I was in the mood for noodle soup, and ordered hokkien noodle soup with chicken from one of the Chinese stalls (the one closest to the Japanese). It was even better than I hoped – a big bowl filled to the brim with a dark brown broth, egg noodles, bok choy, chicken pieces and fresh bean sprouts.
This was fantastic. The soup was quite salty, but it was delicious! The chicken pieces were thigh meat, bouncy and juicy. I was in heaven! It really was a big bowl of noodle soup – I struggled to finish, and in the end reluctantly left some broth and noodles behind.
Jac ordered a pancake with ice cream, banana and maple syrup for us to share. It was a perfect end to a delicious meal.
