Sausages, peas and potato bake
It’s been a while since I posted, and so I’ll be uploading multiple posts this evening.
Here’s the first. Dinner, 04/01/2006. Sausages and peas I’ve posted before. But not this potato bake. Jac made it by cooking sliced potatoes in the microwave (until the potatoes were three-quarters done). Then she put them in an ovenproof dish with a layer of fresh chopped garlic on the bottom, poured a carton of cream to cover them and lastly added the magic ingredient of powdered french onion soup mix. The french onion mix (the brown crusty bits you can see on the top) gave the dish an extra savoury-ness and made it really, really tasty! I’m not sure how long she baked it for – until the potatoes were fully cooked, the cream was bubbling and the french onion bits were browned.
That potato bake was so good I told Jac she can make it again any time (although I’m not really supposed to eat cream!).
