Tuesday bento – tuna potato patties, tartare sauce, salad, melon and kaya sandwiches
Last Tuesday, I packed us the tuna patties Jac made for lunch. Here’s my bento box, with the patties, tartare sauce for dipping, salad (savoy cabbage, cherry tomatoes, yellow capsicum and cucumber), mini kaya sandwiches, prunes and watermelon cubes. Stuck in a prune is a koala food pick.
For Jac, the same lunch, except that instead of prunes, I packed her some crackers and plum and port-flavoured cheddar cheese. The cheese and crackers were Jac’s favourite items in this particular bento.
Just a simple note today…
I used a hand towel – given to us years ago by my late grandma Mama – as a furoshiki (bento box cloth wrapper). Mama gave us a set of these, four or six of them, I can’t remember. She never noticed the skulls and bones design (Mama didn’t know about stuff like Halloween, or symbols like skulls and crossbones); she just liked the fluoro colours, and thought we would too. :) I always smile and think of her whenever we use these, which is quite often.
