Chicken pie

This post is especially for Nicole – I know how much you like posts that feature pies! I recently ate a delicious chicken and vegetable pie and a couple of samosas bought from the bakery at the Bentley Centre. As usual, once I was at home, I had to eat them off a plate rather […]

A quiet new year’s eve dinner

We didn’t do anything exciting for new year’s eve. We were happy to just stay home. Jac did a bit of cooking and I played my Nintendo DS (I’m currently hopelessly addicted to Animal Crossing: Wild World). We had a relaxing evening with a delicious dinner (the good bit), followed by um, something not so […]

New bento bag from my sister

My bento lunch: beef chipolatas left over from dinner the night before, potato salad, cherry tomatoes and green seedless grapes. The potato salad was my usual quick and easy combination of a microwaved potato cut into cubes, seasoned with a little salt and pepper, then combined with Kewpie mayonnaise, thinly sliced cucumber, carrot and spring [&hel…

Sausages, salad and smokey BBQ sauce

A recent dinner: beef chipolatas and salad (lettuce, orange capsicum, cucumber, cherry tomatoes, regular tomatoes, hard-boiled eggs and corn kernels, with a blob of smokey barbecue sauce to dip the chipolatas into. Sliced turkey roast on Maggi two-minute noodles

I loved having that chunk of leftover turkey thigh roast in the fridge after Christmas. This was a very simple dinner I whipped up for myself: slices of turkey thigh roast, microwaved until popping hot, served on Maggi two minute noodles (minus the broth). So simple (and yes, lacking greens!) but very very tasty.

Monday bento – macaroni and turkey stir-fry and stuffing

Note: For those of you who asked – I’ve updated the prawn leftovers post with the recipe for the seafood cocktail sauce. Enjoy! On the Sunday night following Christmas, I made a stir-fry dish for bento: macaroni, snow peas, cherry tomatoes, champignons, onions and cubes of Christmas turkey thigh roast, flavoured with garlic and oyster […

Lunch at the Broken Hill Hotel

On the Sunday after Christmas, Jac and I went out to lunch with our friend M (remember this delicious vegetarian barbecue?). We went to the Broken Hill Hotel (314 Albany Highway, Victoria Park). It’s a pub Jac’s wanted to check out for some time now – and I’m glad we did. Jac and M enjoyed […]
