Friday night takeaway dinner

I offered to pick up something for dinner on my way home from work Friday night. Jac requested bulgogi from the Korean & Japanese Restaurant I’d gotten takeaway from previously, called Poppo. The restaurant was pretty busy when I got there, which was a very good sign. Lots of happy Korean and Japanese students enjoying […]

Midweek dinner and movie date

We had dinner at Spencer Village in Thornlie on Wednesday evening. Jac had rice paper rolls (a serve of four big rolls for AU$6.00) from the Vietnamese stall. There was prawn (which you can clearly see in the photo) and sliced roast pork in them, as well as the usual things – vermicelli, mint, coriander […]

Yaaah, lamb

Dinner on Tuesday night – Jac cooked lamb necks for a really long time so the meat was tender and literally fell off the bones. I think she intended to make this a lamb curry but it ended up more like a spicy sort of casserole, with carrots, peas, broccoli and cauliflower thrown in. Not […]

Work food, Tuesday to Friday

Tuesday: Chad had an Entertainment Book 25% off coupon to use at Caffe Vero on Rokeby Road, and of course I was only too pleased to eat somewhere different for a change, after all my Hans-ing! Chad decided on a ham and salad roll, with the bread lightly toasted. I was somewhat tempted by the […]

Still getting to know the new camera. A snack of ovenbaked marinated chicken wings, with fresh cucumber, grape tomatoes and aioli for dipping. Chicken Tonight – creamy mushroom flavour, with added fresh mushrooms and broccoli, with mashed potatoes and orange mash (sweet potato and carrot). A fruit platter, with oranges, apples, strawberries, …

Love squid tender

Today’s lunch: squid pepper rice (AU$8.95) at Han’s. Fantastic! The squid pieces were ever so lightly battered, nicely seasoned and unbelievably tender, with little bits of garlic, sliced onion, fresh chilli and hmmm, a fleeting hint of lime somewhere in there (lovely!) – thumbs up!

Sunday breakfast

So far I prefer not to use the Food scene setting on my new camera when taking food photos. Here’s this morning’s breakfast, taken using Macro mode, ISO 200 with flash set to OFF. I think it will take much more experimenting before I know exactly what I’m doing. For our breaky this morning, Jac […]

First photos

My new camera is a Panasonic TZ3. This is the very first photo I took with it, of Pixel and Billy Lee. Here’s a shot I took in my study, in relatively low light.

Camera’s last supper

Jac and I had brunch at Miss Maud yesterday, before we got into the grocery shopping at Woolies. Jac had a craving for lasagna and ordered Miss Maud’s version (AU$13.25), which came with a side salad – she chose the garden salad. Jac also ordered another side salad – the beetroot salad. Jac absolutely loves […]

Two Han’s in a single day

On Tuesday night a few of us from work went to Leederville for dinner and a movie. We saw Michael Moore’s latest, Sicko. I must admit I’ve never been a fan of Michael Moore, and I’m still not. That’s all I’m going to say about that. :) I enjoyed going out on a weeknight for […]
