I was tired, but at last, text with the pictures

Belated text to go with the pictures: This was a very basic cheese and mustard on toast. The cheese was Farmers Union Old Bitey (just the name makes me want to eat it! It is yuuuuuummy cheese!) and we used Australian mustard to add a little more bitey-ness. But just the cheese on its own […]

Kebabs for lunch

Jac, VR and I went to my office at uni today to clear out my desk and bring all my crap stuff home. I guess it’s the end of an era, but I don’t feel sad or sentimental about it. I feel like I moved on quite a while ago. No one else was in […]

Dinner at Sapporo (again!)

VR shouted us dinner on Friday night. We went to Sapporo in Carlisle. Jac and I have eaten at Sapporo before (see previous posts: 1, 2, 3). VR hasn’t really eaten much Japanese food before but was keen to give it a go. We each ordered an entree and a main and offered each other […]

A very average lunch on an amazing day

Life is looking good at the moment. This was a very average lunch I had last week on a really amazing day. I can’t go into details about the amazingness, but let’s just say I feel very lucky, and very happy. This was toasted turkish-style bread filled with chicken schnitzel, rocket, mozzarella and tomato relish. […]

Prawney!

Dinner made by VR (she’s back with us until Wednesday next week), featuring one of her absolute favourite food items: prawns! These were cold cooked prawns she bought from a fishmonger. Yay, Fook Kee’s back!

Yay! Fook Kee at Spencer Village is up and running again! People really missed Fook Kee – I could tell by the queues today, on the first weekend since they returned from their holiday. All around us, people were tucking into Fook Kee specialties: char tau kway, tau foo goreng, loh bak, and even pork […]

Another Saturday night dinner

Saturday night’s dinner: wholemeal dinner rolls, halved, toasted and buttered… corn on the cob… a quick salad… …and barramundi fillets, seasoned with salt and pepper and grilled. The fish was frozen rather than fresh this time; we didn’t have time after our day in Northbridge to get to a supermarket or fishmonger…

Regent Cakes bakery goodies

We had been too full to have dessert at the Hog’s Breath, but after a little post-lunch walk around Northbridge, we were ready to have something sweet. We shared a couple of baked goodies from Regent Cakes, Juji’s shout. We had a whole egg cake, which was sweet and oh soooo beautifully soft, light and […]

Return to Hog’s Breath Cafe

We decided to go to Hog’s Breath Cafe (I wrote about a great lunch Jac and I had there last year). Looks like the building’s had a nice paint job since last year, hey? I really like the super-bright yellow. Left – then, Right – now.    Jac and Juji had cranberry juice. I don’t […]
