Tuesday night barbie

Yesterday evening after work Jac cleaned the barbie (it hadn’t been used for quite some time) and then cooked up a delicious dinner on it. We had grilled eggplant, red capsicum and tomatoes with beef sausages for VR and me, and vegetarian sausages for Jac (which tasted surprisingly like meat sausages – I did prefer […]

Hello, chicken rice… and goodbye, chicken rice

It’s been a long time since I ate Hainan chicken rice at uni. That’s the annoying thing about the long summer holidays – all the food places at uni shut down. Hey, I’m not saying the staff shouldn’t have holidays! I just miss being able to eat char kway teow or chicken rice for the […]

More grilled fish

I forgot these photos of another grilled barramundi dinner we’ve had recently, grilled fish and a truckload of salad. I don’t think I can ever get sick of grilled fresh fish with salad or vegies. Just when I thought I was sort of managing finishing the thesis while trawling daily through job ads, writing job […]

Jac’s Birthday, 2007 – the sweet

For birthday dessert Jac requested tiramisu. She didn’t want a birthday cake. I made the tiramisu using a recipe from my Home Food cook book. Note to self: save up and buy a decent mixer! I couldn’t believe how long it took to hand beat the egg yolks with the caster sugar until the sugar […]

Jac’s Birthday, 2007 – the savoury

It’s Jac’s birthday today! We started the celebrations with dinner at her mum’s last night. Jac requested her favourite meal of cold meat and salad (she requested cold meat and salad last year too!), and so that’s exactly what we had, after starting on an assortment of cheeses with rice crackers: Jac’s mum went to [&he…

Another dinner

Here’s a dinner from earlier this week: butter chicken, made using The Curry Master brand packet mix, freshly sliced cucumber, and rice. The butter chicken instructions said to add yoghurt, but Jac used cream instead (naughty! Well, actually all she could find were 1kg tubs of plain yoghurt when she went to the shop, so […]
