Long weekend food

All I wanted was to have my say, and I’ve done that. So let’s move on to nicer things, shall we? :) Here are some of the meals I ate recently, on the long weekend. By coincidence, guess what food item is featured? You guessed it! SPAM! But I’ll start with something a little more […]

Utterly ridiculous part 2

Remember this comment from Patti? You stole the French Toast and Spam recipe from me. I have had it published on Allrecipes.com, my own recipe, so I would appreciate it if you would give me credit. http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/French-Toast-and-Spam-Sandwiches/Detail.aspx. This was my email to Patti, telling her of my response posted at this site: P…

Takeaway Chinese dinner

Jac was a little stressed out on the Thursday night before the long weekend (geez, I really am running behind, aren’t I?), busily getting things ready for her weekend away with her hockey friends. We went to the shops to do a little shopping, and then grabbed some takeaway for a quick dinner. I haven’t […]

Lunch bag giveaway winner, special offer and the wrap-up

Thank you to everyone who entered the oilcloth lunchbag giveaway! 86 people entered the draw by leaving a comment in response to the question: “what is the most exotic or unusual thing you’ve eaten?” All eligible entries were given a number, and my “barrel girl” Jac selected a number at random to determine the winner. …

Thursday bento – beef sausages, salad, French toast

Jac didn’t need to take lunch to work last Thursday – her boss had said he’d shout lunch* for the team (lucky her!). But she cooked me up a batch of beef chipolatas so I’d have protein for my bento box. For me, that’s the tricky part – working out what protein to have for […]

The sauce served with them was blow-your-socks-off …

Wednesday bento – fried rice, salad and fruit

We made fried rice for dinner last Tuesday night, with chicken, carrot, green beans, mushroom, corn kernels, onion, garlic and egg (broken into the fried rice mixture right at the end), flavoured with oyster sauce. It was delicious. I’d been really craving home cooked fried rice. Jac cooked plenty so we would have leftovers for […]

Just thinking…

Thank you to everyone who’s left a comment at my Utterly ridiculous post. On a related note, Katie wrote about receiving her first nasty comment at her blog A Byootaful Life. She reflects on the different ways bloggers respond to nasty comments. I like to analyse and rip the comment to shreds, and if ridicule […]

Ba Ba Black lunch

Last Tuesday I didn’t take lunch to work, and J, CF and I decided to eat at Ba Ba Black (Shop 25, 60 Royal St – Cnr Plain St, next to The Royal pub). Yes, I ate there two days in a row! CF had skipped breakfast that morning and was craving bacon and eggs. […]

Ba Ba Black breakfast – again!

I met up with my friend Chad for breakfast last Monday! We’ve been emailing and SMSing regularly but have both been really busy (regular readers may remember Chad used to work with me but is currently on a secondment at a different office) – it’s been a little tricky finding the time to get together. […]
